Salisbury - The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) will hold a Certified Judges Class in Salisbury, MD on Saturday, December 1, 2007. The class, to be held from 10AM-3PM at the Wicomico Civic Center will certify participants to judge Kansas City Barbeque festivals all over the country, including the fifth annual Pork in the Park Festival scheduled for April 18-20, 2008 in Salisbury.

The class will cover all aspects of being a barbeque judge, including the format of barbeque competitions, characteristics to look for in entries, how to score entries, rules and regulations of barbeque competitions and more

The cost of the Certified Judges Class is $45.00 for KCBS members, and $75.00 for non-members. The non-member cost includes a one-year membership to the Kansas City Barbecue Society, a one year subscription to the KCBS monthly newsletter, and a lifetime barbeque judge certification!

WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Festival Draws Record Number of Crowds,
Competitors


The sun was out, the savory smell of barbeque was in the air, and people came out in droves to take in the fourth annual Pork in the Park Barbeque Festival at Winterplace Park in Salisbury.

By far the most successful year yet, with 15,000 attendees from Delmarva and beyond, the event featured a beer garden, tasty 'que, live blues music, a variety of children's rides and games, arts, crafts and more. And for the first year ever, dozens of bikers participated in the Red Knights of Ocean City show and ride.

Plus, more than 60 competitors from across the country competed for the top prize in the Whole Hog Competition and four Kansas City Barbeque Society categories: pork, brisket, ribs and chicken. Some chose to tickle the judges' taste buds with everything from cheesecake to seafood to vegetable dishes in the "Anything Butt" competition. Those with the best tasting dishes walked away with a portion of the $11,000 in prize money. Jim Perdue was on hand at the Saturday awards ceremony to present the Frank P. Perdue Award to one team.

Pork in the Park Announces Festival Schedule

Salisbury, MD With spring officially here, the Wicomico Tourism Department is revving up for the fourth Annual Pork in the Park Festival which will be combined this year with a beer festival.

Slated for April 20-22 at Winterplace Park in Salisbury, the event will feature live entertainment, tasty barbeque, cold beverages, crafts, vendors and kiddy rides. What's more the Red Knights of Ocean City will have bikes on display.

Admission is just $2 daily for adults and kids under 12 are free.

Preparations for 4th Annual Pork in the Park Festival Underway!

Salisbury, MD - The Wicomico County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau will host the fourth annual "Pork in the Park Festival" on April 20th - 22nd, 2007 at Winterplace Park in Salisbury.

Last year’s festival featured more than 50 competitive barbequers along with local cuisine, crafts, carnival rides and live jazz music, making it one of the nation’s top ten barbeque festivals sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. This year’s festival is expected to be even bigger and better than ever!

Competitors, vendors and entertainment are currently being recruited for the Fourth Annual Pork in the Park Barbeque Festival.
